Just Maui’d! Hawaii Honeymooners.
My husband and I honeymooned in Maui for 10 days and it was by the far the best vacation we ever experienced. During the wedding planning process, my husband took the initiative to plan our honeymoon. Now let me just share that my husband plans some amazing trips. Our trip to Paris and Rome was all coordinated by Michael and I got to sit back relax and enjoy everything he researched. So when Michael first mentioned Hawaii as a honeymoon destination I was initially thinking “meh, so many newlyweds go there!”. (Ummm, can I go back in time and slap myself for saying such nonsense! “Meh” to Hawaii? What was I thinking?!)
Don’t get me wrong, I by no means dislike Hawaii or the idea of a Hawaiian vacation. I think I was just envisioning a European destination honeymoon versus a tropical one. However, I am so glad my husband ignored my stupid response and proceeded with the planning.
I can list a billion reasons why Maui is the most amazing place on earth from the romance, to the adventure to the culinary treats. I haven’t been everywhere in the world so I can’t rule out other fabulous vacation spots, but Maui will always have a special place in my heart because of the memories and all the culture it had to offer. Maui gave us everything my husband and I wanted on our honeymoon. We were able to relax in the sun, drink in the sun, and read in the sun, all while drinking a delicious cocktail and hearing the ocean waves crashing on to the shore. Of course we squeeze in some shopping for me and some cliff jumping for Michael!
I don’t want to bore you with the full 10-day itinerary but I will share some of the highlights!
Hotel: Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort
If you are looking for a hotel, look no further. Click above and book your stay! The hotel was spectacular! Every staff person was friendly and greeted us with leis, Aloha’s and pog (passion, orange, and guava) juice. At check in, they congratulated us on our recent nuptials and gave us a tour of the resort. The sleek decor created a luxurious ambience with subtle notes of Hawaiian culture. No matter where you walked you could smell the delicious scents of orchids, jasmine blossoms and plumeria mixed in with the fresh ocean air. The dining service, cocktails, water activities and entertainment were superb and we never felt the need to leave the resort. The hotel features 4 pools cascading down to the beach and 1 separate pool for adults only (major perk for honeymooners!).
